About The Children's Garden Preschool.

Serving Earlysville, Charlottesville and Ruckersville, Virginia.

The Children’s Garden Preschool serves Charlottesville, Earlysville and Ruckersville, Virginia.  Since it is a child's first experience away from home, my goal is to help each child feel safe and nurtured while they explore, learn and play. The Children’s Garden Preschool Program consists of a variety of experiences designed to enrich and expand your child’s knowledge and wonder of the world around them, and to allow them to learn to interact with other children in a safe, appropriate and gentle manner. We learn best through play, so the program is designed to be play-based.

Some of the activities we will do during our time together include singing, fingerplay, arts and crafts, cooking and exploring nature.  Time will also be devoted each morning to stories and interactive play with toys, games, puzzles and imagination-developing, creative play. Each child is given one on one time with me, as we move through the many centers and activities available for play each morning. All snacks and meals will be provided, but food allergies and sensitivities can be worked with.

Communication with parents about each child’s progress and what they are doing during our mornings together is an important part of the preschool experience.

A daily note reviewing the activities of the day will be posted, and a monthly newsletter will help keep parents abreast of the latest happenings.

We also have special activities throughout the year to enhance learning and our knowledge of the world around us. In the fall we make our own pinatas, we playact classic stories, we 'travel around the world' during the holidays to find out about how other cultures celebrate, we are paid a yearly visit by a mischievous leprechaun, we go on an egg hunt and we even hatch chicks or ducks and also butterflies in the spring!

We like to take field trips, and have visited such venues as the fire station, airport, petting farm, strawberry patch, puppet theatre and post office.  We have taken a train ride and had a pizza making demonstration. Our trips are designed to be fun and educational, and parental participation is encouraged.

Each child is a unique being, with developing likes, dislikes, interests and abilities. Each child will be treated with respect and we will rejoice in our differences.

I look forward to giving your child a wonderful preschool experience.

Preschool is a time when each child gets to explore, play and learn.

The Children's Garden is a place where fun and learning go hand in hand!
