"Without reservation, we would recommend The Children's Garden Preschool to any parent looking for more than just your average preschool in the Charlottesville, Earlysville and Ruckersville area.
Our daughter has thrived under the nurturing care and teaching style of Children's Garden. We have watched her grow from a shy and introverted child into a confident little girl who welcomes new challenges. "

"Our family has sent 3 boys through Ms. Maria's care. Two of our boys have attended other preschools (for scheduling reasons only), but their experience with Ms. Maria is by far their most valuable. In our 7 years with her, Maria has created, each year, with each mix of personalities, a safe and nurturing environment for all children to explore the world and guided the children to learn how to be a good friend/citizen. She uses positive reinforcement and modeling to help the kids learn appropriate boundaries with each other, with objects, and with her as a teacher. The kids learn from mistakes in a way that makes them feel stronger afterwards. Maria welcomes each child and each family member with an open heart, and from the depths of her heart, shows us unconditional love. She has helped my children learn to be good people, and has supported us as parents in learning to be good parents. Our entire family has benefitted from her influence in our lives."
"My daughter Zoe has been attending the Children's Garden Preschool in Earlysville for three years and will be moving into Kindergarten next fall. We feel so incredibly blessed by the rich experiences that Maria has provided Zoe in these past few years and wish that she could stay another year! Zoe loves going to school every morning and comes home full of laughter, light and happiness.
Maria weaves art, science, math and life skills into all of the "units" that she offers throughout the year. This past year, they had a unit on nutrition and Zoe came home talking about the difference between "energy-go" foods and "energy-slow" foods and now SHE tells ME how important it is to eat her vegetables. We love how much crafting and art work that Zoe is exposed to and enjoy seeing what she has created at the end of the day. Almost every day, she comes home with something unique and special that is in keeping with either the "letter of the week" or the unit theme at that time. Maria keeps the classroom interesting, changing out the items that the children see and play with every week or so. She also emphasizes the importance of outdoor playtime and tries to get the children out every day for 30 minutes or longer if the weather is nice.
Most of all, just know that Maria is an incredibly talented teacher, a loving mother, and a trusted caregiver. The children adore her and she truly adores them back even in the most challenging moments. It is a special school that not only prepares the children with social skills and an outlet for outdoor and creative play but also with the scholastic skills that they need to enter into kindergarten with confidence. She teaches each child individually at their own pace so that their first experiences with learning are positive and fun as they should be!
I hope this is helpful to you in making your decision. Please let me know if you have any other specific questions. Best of luck to you!"
